This is probably not a University that comes to mind when you think about online degree programs, but it just goes to show that big isn’t alway best.

I want to highlight a great school that’s doing some great things with their online degree programs.

The school is Southern New Hampshire University.

Yep, good ‘ol SNHU

Heard of them? Well that’s OK if you haven’t. Neither had I until a few days ago.

They’re out in Manchester, a nice city that I’ve visited several times.

And they just moved their online course department from their Manchester North River Road campus to Manchester’s downtown mills in August. Very good use of some probably old space.

It’s interesting to not that SNHU has offered online courses since 1996. But what’s more important is that the growth of their online education has increased rapidly in the past two years.

SNHU now offers about 40 degrees online, from associate level to an MBA.

Can you beleive that? FOURTY degrees! That’s more than schools that are twice their size.

Their new digs in Manchester are part of a aggresive growth plan. Not only had they outgrown their old campus space, but the university is gearing up for a very strong push into new online markets. That’s according to Paul LeBlanc, president of SNHU since 2003.
