Associate online degree programs | Indiana reports a rise in online enrollment

Posted by bposton on November 29th, 2006 — Posted in associate online degree programs

Indiana is reporting a rise in online enrollments at the colleges and universities in the state.

First we’ll take Perdue.

Dennis McElhoe, Purdue’s director of continuing education and conferencing, said Purdue began offering online courses in the 1999-00 academic school year with two enrolled students. Now, more than 4,700 students are enrolled in the courses.

Next, there’s Indiana U.

Indiana University had 40 graduate-level online courses in the school of education during the 2005-06 academic school year, the coordinator of student and course support reported. The number of students enrolled were not counted.

The university had 83 undergradate online courses and 44 high school online courses as well.

Last year, 1,917 Indiana undergraduates were enrolled in the courses, compared to 1,734 the previous academic school year.

So, even more evidence that online education is surging.

engineering degree online : Some info about NCSU’s online program

Posted by bposton on October 25th, 2006 — Posted in engineering degree online

Another note got posted on my online dorm room door last night…

“where can I find a good Engineering online program?”

Well, there are lots and lots of them - expecially if you’re looking for a masters degree.

I’ll be highlighting several that fit the bill over the next few weeks, but I suppose I
should start in my own backyard first.

That means North Carolina.

And if you’re thinking North Carolina and Engineering, the obvoius place to start is at
North Carolina State University (NCSU)

NCSU is one of the finest Engineering schools in the Southeast, if not the nation. As such it is
highly competitive. In fact, only two schools in the entire state offer an Engineering program and the one
at NCSU is the cream of the crop.

I attended the open house at NCSU last Saturday (not for me, but for my daughter - who by the way
is not interested in Engineering :-(   )

Here’s what I learned about there online engineering programs:

First and formost, they were created for the working professionals. Credit courses in Engineering and
Computer Science can be delivered directly to your home or workplace via the Internet.

In addition to this, special undergraduate programs are also offered in various locations throughout North Carolina.

Interested?

If you are then you should contact the Engineering Online office to learn more.
They have a toll-free number - (877) 254-0058

If you happen to be in the Raleigh/Durham area you can call (919) 513-4481,

The Engineering Online Office is open Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Eastern Standard Time.

Just as a side note, in case you were wondering:
North Carolina State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097;
Telephone number: 404-679-4501) to award associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
