Speaking of nurses, the U.S. News & World Report mag has listed Ball State University’s online nursing master’s degree program as one of the nation’s largest.

And that’s for the third year in a row…pretty impressive. It’s also listed as the largest in the Midwest.

It’s also the 3rd year in a row to be in the top ten, this year the School of Nursing’s online degree master’s program is ranked seventh.

Linda Siktberg, director of Ball State’s School of Nursing, hsa commented that these consecutive rankings are a good indication of their program’s ability to offer the right courses that are needed by the health care profession. It also means that the program is continuing to recruit highly talented students.

The online master’s program began at the university in 1999.

engineering degree online : new scholarships for wounded servicemen

If you or someone you know is a wounded vet of Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom, you should know about a new scholarship just announced by an Capella University, an online university.

They are offering five $10,000 scholarships to service members wounded in
Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom, in honor of the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform

Here’s a snippet from the press release:

Titled “Spirit of Capella Scholarships For Injured Service Members,” the scholarships
may be applied to any of Capella’s online degree programs. Approximately 15 percent of
Capella students are members of the military.

“As a university with a significant number of students who are members of the military,
Capella is committed to doing its part to support those men and women who have given so much in service to our country,” said Jim Landerkin, Capella’s Federal Program Manager.

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled in a Capella degree program during the quarter
immediately following the announcement of receiving a scholarship. The award will be
distributed evenly over the eight quarters following the announcement.

Eligibility guidelines:

Service members from any branch of the U.S. military who have received a Rating Decision
memo of 20% disability or higher from the Veterans Administration as a result of being
wounded in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The recipients are required to be enrolled in a degree program during the quarter
immediately following the award announcement (January 2007).
Applicants must meet Capella University admissions requirements or be current Capella University learners.

Applications are now being accepted and the deadline is November 13, 2006.
